What We Do
Our aim is to provide you with a day out that's not only great fun, but importantly great value as well. This page details what we do and why we're always striving to be better than the rest.
We're primarily involved in the provision of paintball and laser combat gaming outdoors.
Why Choose Us?
We welcome players not only locally from around the South West, but also from as far away as the South East, Scotland and even Ireland. Many of our guests are returning customers who find it convenient and economical to use Bristol Airport to reach us. We also benefit greatly from our location which is only 1 mile from Junction 17, at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol on the M5 motorway. This makes us a very popular and accessible destination for guests who want a short break in the area, such as stag or hen groups.
Below we've listed just some of the reasons why we think you'd choose us over other paintball and laser combat providers.
Our Attitude.
Quite simply, we want you to come back and see us again, so we always treat our customers as valued guests, we don't try to order you about, we don't try to rip you off, we're completely open about our pricing, and we'll always try to provide you with the best we can.
Fantastic! The best run paintball site I've ever been to, I'll be back!
Our Competitive Pricing.
While providing the best in paintball and laser combat you might expect us to be expensive! But by having a high customer return rate we've proven that we can make money by giving a superior service and keep our charges low, that in turn draws our guests back time and time again.
Our Staff.
We think our staff are great! The girls and guys that work with us have a good sense of fun and all enjoy playing paintball and laser combat. We also train them in essential marshalling skills that include, customer service, on-site safety, first aid, games management and of course, tea making. In instilling into our staff that our customers are our guests and should therefore be treated accordingly, our guests find us welcoming, friendly and helpful.
As part of our continual efforts to maintain very high standards and be a premier events provider in the South West. Skirmish Bristol is proud to be an active and accredited member of the United Kingdom Paintball Sports Federation. (UKPSF) A body which ensures that certain minimum standards are met within the nationwide paintballing community, with a particular emphasis on player safety and enjoyment.
Only sites that have passed their rigorous site accreditation scheme and continue to maintain these high standards in equipment maintenance, staff training, site services and customer safety and satisfaction are awarded the higher accreditation status.
Who are the UKPSF?
In 1990 a group of players and members of the trade formed the European Paintball Sports Federation to protect the sport. The game of paintball was going through a rough time with attacks from the media and more important a possible ban by the Home Office as a result of the wording of the Firearms Act at the time.
Over the years the EPSF and more recently the UKPSF have had discussions with various members of the Government, officials at the various Government bodies, local authorities, Police and Firearms experts. As a result of these discussions the wording in the Firearms act (Air being the only approved propellant) which could have resulted in a ban on paintball has been changed. (CO2 was added as an approved propellant) The sport and the equipment has developed over the past ten years and the need for CO2 as a propellant has reduced.
The EPSF also produced tournament rule books which formed the foundation for all of the current tournament rules in the UK and probably most of the European tournaments. The "Code of Practice" is recognised by the Health and Safety and a lot of Councils as the guidelines for operating a paintball site.
In the late 1990's it was decided to change the name from the EPSF to the UKPSF because whilst most of the European countries had used the EPSF as the model to set up their own Federations the organisation in the UK only looked after the United Kingdom. There were no representatives from other countries on the committee therefore it did not truly represent Europe. The name was therefore changed to the United Kingdom Paintball Sports Federation.
There are steps being taken at present to form a new European body with representatives from all over Europe on the committee.
The UKPSF is a voluntary body and exists to promote the sport of paintball, liaise with government bodies, local authorities and try to make the game of paintball
safe and fun to play. One of the main objectives is to have the game of paintball recognised by the Sports Council as a sport!
